Grades & Standards Steel Grades High Strength Steel Grade 100 Steel
Grade 100 Steel
Grade 100 is a high-strength low alloy steel produced in the as-rolled condition. The microalloying elements, Nb, V, and Ti create a fine grain microstructure with low carbon content. The Grade 100 designation indicates a minimum yield strength of 100 KSI or 690 MPa. Due to its high strength, Grade 100 steel plate is commonly used in heavy equipment, construction, and structural applications.

Grade 100 Specifications
Property
specification
Formability
Excellent cold formability with a guaranteed 1.5t inside bend radii, in contrast to most A514 supplier’s 2.0t radii.
Weldability
Grade 100 Steel can be welded at room temperatures without preheating. It is appropriate for all conventional welding methods without a propensity to hardening and cold cracking. Its CEQ is lower than a conventional Q&T plate.
Surface
To provide an enhanced surface for appearance and finishing processes, Grade 100 can be temper passed, brushed, pickled and oiled, or shot blasted.
Mechanical Properties
Grade 100 Steel readily meets the most demanding mechanical property tolerances with a minimum yield strength of 100 ksi, minimum tensile strength of 110 ksi, and minimum elongation of 12%.
Chemical Composition
Grade 100 Steel is a high-strength low alloy (HSLA) steel containing low amounts of carbon (.10 max), phosphorous (.025) and sulfur (.006) resulting in a cleaner, more homogeneous material.
Cost Advantage
Very competitively priced compared with A514 material.
