S700MC

S700MC is a hot rolled, high-strength low alloy steel that combines high strength and excellent formability. It has a minimum yield strength of 700 MPa (101,000 ksi), and can be supplied in sheet, coil, strip, and plate forms. Because S700MC combines high strength and good ductility, it allows designers to reduce section thickness while still meeting structural requirements, benefiting weight-reduction strategies.

Grades Designations

S700MC is furnished in accordance with the EN 10149‑2 specification for hot-rolled flat products made of high-yield strength steels for cold forming. Its chemical composition typically limits carbon to ≤ 0.12 %, silicon to ≤ 0.60 %, manganese to ≤ 2.10 % and further micro-alloying with niobium, vanadium and titanium to refine grain size and improve mechanical properties.

S700MC Characteristics

Property

specification

Weldability

S700MC can be welded using all common welding techniques

Defined Sizes

S700MC plates from coil are available up to 12.5 mm (0.492″) thick and 2000 mm (78.74″) wide. Because the plates are produced from coils, custom lengths are available. The maximum length is determined by the method of shipment.

Thermal Cutting

S700MC can be laser, plasma, or oxy-fuel cut with excellent edge quality.

Bendability

These steels maintain predictable bending behavior.

Ease of Fabrication

S700MC is easy to machine and fabricate using standard practices.

S700MC steel is used in a wide variety of industries and applications such as:

  • Large crane fabrication
  • Earthmoving equipment fabrication
  • Telescopic boom fabrication
  • Fabrication of truck trailers
  • Agricultural machinery fabrication
