AR 200

AR200 is a mild, abrasion-resistant steel designed for moderate wear applications that require improved hardness over standard structural plate. With a nominal hardness of 200 Brinell, AR200 offers a balance of strength, formability, and cost efficiency, making it a reliable option for light to medium-duty service. It provides better resistance to sliding and mild impact abrasion than A36 or commercial-quality carbon plate, while remaining easy to cut, form, and weld. AR200 is often selected for applications where surface wear occurs but high impact or structural loading is not the primary concern.

AR200 VS. AR235

While both AR200 and AR235 are low-carbon, abrasion-resistant steels, AR235 provides slightly higher hardness and tensile strength for improved surface wear life. AR200, however, offers greater ductility and easier fabrication, making it a better choice when forming or welding is required. For applications with moderate abrasion, such as liners, light material handling, and low-impact equipment, AR200 delivers sufficient wear protection at a lower cost. AR235 is often selected when slightly longer wear life is desired but formability remains important.
