Weldability
SAE J403 steels exhibit excellent weldability in the lower carbon grades (≤ 0.25% C). As carbon content increases, weldability decreases due to increased hardenability.
Thermal Cutting
Thermal cutting can be performed, though heat input should be controlled for high-carbon grades to avoid hardened edges.
Bendability
Formability generally decreases as carbon content and material strength increase. Lower carbon steels tend to be easier to bend and form, while higher-carbon grades may require greater consideration.
Ease of Fabrication
